Hello S. C. Residents,
There is a bill in the South Carolina Senate that maybe of interest to everyone in South
Carolina. Bill Number S 0629 states that hospitals must test all patients for staph infection
Methicillian-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) at admissions and again at discharge.
Also, high risk patients will be tested every 7 days after they are admitted. I believe this
bill may be one of the ways to stop MRSA from spreading. When a person has been
identified with MRSA, the doctor will prescribe the correct antibiotic for that person.
Please contact your senator to let them know that this bill is important to the residents of
South Carolina and have them help pass this bill when it comes before them.
